The short version
- ✓ Post your work, ask for feedback, give it honestly
- ✓ Criticise the work, not the person
- ✓ Be who you say you are - one person, one account
- ✓ No harassment, hate, doxxing or illegal content
- ✓ Nothing sexual involving a minor, ever - no warning, no appeal
- ✓ Do not game Woopies, streaks or trending
- ✓ Report what breaks the rules; block what you simply do not want to see
1.What Woope is for
Woope is for people who build things and want to show their work, get feedback, and find other people doing the same. Posts, projects, portfolios, discussions and communities all exist for that.
Most of what follows is one idea applied to different surfaces: post as though the person you are talking about is going to read it, because on a platform this size they probably will.
2.Not allowed anywhere
These apply to every surface - posts, comments, discussions, projects, portfolios, community content, quizzes, usernames, display names, bios, images and direct messages alike.
- -Anything sexual involving a minor. This is the one rule with no context, no warning and no appeal: the account is removed and, where the law requires it, reported.
- -Threats of violence, or content encouraging violence against a person or group.
- -Harassment: repeatedly contacting someone who has asked you to stop, coordinating pile-ons, or content whose point is to make one identifiable person's life worse.
- -Hate speech - attacking people for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age.
- -Content encouraging suicide or self-harm. If you are struggling, please talk to a local crisis line - we are not equipped to help, and we would rather you reached someone who is.
- -Doxxing: publishing someone's address, phone number, workplace, private messages or other personal details without their consent.
- -Sexually explicit material, and graphic violence.
- -Anything illegal, or instructions for doing something illegal.
- -Malware, phishing, and links to either.
3.Be who you say you are
Do not impersonate a person, a company, or Woope staff. Parody is fine when it is obviously parody; a profile designed to be mistaken for someone else is not.
Do not claim work that is not yours. Passing off someone else's project, portfolio piece or writing as your own is grounds for removal, and repeat cases for a ban.
Credit collaborators honestly, and only add someone to a project or team with their agreement - being listed there is public.
One person, one account. Extra accounts to evade a ban, to inflate your own engagement, or to move Woopies to yourself are all treated the same way.
4.Spam and gaming the system
Woope ranks content, awards Woopies, tracks streaks and shows trending lists. All of those are worth gaming, so:
- -No repetitive posting, engagement bait, or bulk unsolicited messages.
- -No coordinated liking, following or commenting to push something up.
- -No manufacturing Woopies, achievements, streaks or view counts by any means other than genuinely using the platform.
- -No bots, scrapers or scripts driving the platform. There is no public API, and automated access is not permitted.
Some of this is enforced automatically - rate limits and spam detection act without a person in the loop. If you hit one while doing something innocent, wait a few minutes; if it keeps happening, tell us.
Buying a promotion with Woopies buys placement. It does not buy immunity from these rules, and promoted content that breaks them is removed without a refund.
5.Communities
If you run a community, it is yours to shape. You can write rules, appoint moderators, and remove or ban members.
Two limits. Community rules can be stricter than these Guidelines but never looser - a community cannot permit what Woope forbids. And a community may not exist for the purpose of coordinating against someone, on or off Woope.
If you join a community, follow its rules as well as these. Being removed from a community is the owner's decision, not ours, and is not something we usually overturn.
We may step in on a community directly - removing content, replacing an owner, or closing it - where it is being used to break these Guidelines or has been abandoned.
6.Direct messages
Messages are private between the people in them, but they are not lawless. Everything in section 2 applies just as much in a message as in a post.
You control who can message you, in Settings, and you can block anyone. Blocking is not a statement you owe anyone an explanation for.
Messages are not end-to-end encrypted. They are stored on our infrastructure and can be read by us where we are legally required to act, or where they are reported for abuse. Do not use Woope for anything that needs end-to-end encryption.
7.Feedback and disagreement
Woope is a place where people post unfinished work and ask what is wrong with it, so criticism is not only allowed, it is the point.
The line is between the work and the person. "This API is confusing and here is why" is feedback. "You are an idiot for shipping this" is not, and it is also less useful.
Disagreeing with someone is not harassment. Following them across the platform to keep disagreeing is.
8.Reporting
Every post, comment, discussion, project and profile has a report option. Use it - it reaches moderators, and it is far more effective than replying to the content.
Tell us what rule you think was broken. A report that says why is quicker to act on than one that does not.
Reporting is not a weapon. Filing reports in bad faith - to harass someone, or in volume against an account you dislike - breaks these Guidelines on its own.
You can also block, which is immediate and needs no one's approval.
9.What happens when a rule is broken
Depending on what happened and whether it has happened before, we may remove the content, limit what an account can do, suspend it, or ban it permanently. Content that sexualises a minor goes straight to the last of those.
We try to be proportionate. A first offence that looks like a misjudgement usually gets a removal and a warning; a pattern does not.
Some actions are automatic. Rate limits and spam detection can restrict an account without a person having looked at it.
If you think a decision was wrong, write to support@woope.eu, say what was actioned, and say why. We review appeals individually. We do not promise a response time - Woope is a small team in beta, and saying otherwise would be a promise we could not keep.
10.Changes
These Guidelines change as the platform does. They form part of the Terms of Service, and the Privacy Policy explains what happens to data connected to any of this.
If something here is unclear, or a rule seems to be missing, tell us at support@woope.eu.
To report something, use the report option on the content itself. For anything else - an appeal, a question, or a rule you think is missing - write to support@woope.eu or use the contact page.
